| This course is a part of the Aviation Safety (AVS) and Service/Office Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) program. This course is designed to train individuals who perform work at external industry workplaces such as, airports; maintenance, repair, overhaul, manufacturing, and engine testing facilities, aircraft accident sites, and other workplaces with high noise. This course number is to be used to document the hands-on portion of hearing conservation training for employees who are enrolled in the FS or AIR Hearing Conservation Programs which may be exposed to noise levels at or above the OSHA Action Level (85 dBA as an 8-hr time weighted average (TWA)). At a minimum after receiving hearing conservation training on the uses and types of hearing protection equipment, employees must be able to demonstrate proper selection and usage of hearing protection personal protective equipment. Time length is as needed to complete course content. Hearing protection device review, their purpose, types, use, and demonstration of different types of hearing protection to include the following: - Roll-down earplugs which have to be rolled down for insertion into the ear canal - Non-roll-down earplugs which have a stem for insertion and do not require rolling - Circumaural means something that covers the outer/external part of the ear (earmuffs) | |||
