The AVS Hearing Conservation Program (HCP) Trainer course includes lecture and hands-on training that covers the following topics: HCP Background, Noise Hazards and Exposure Monitoring, Controlling Noise Hazards, the Auditory System, Audiometric Evaluations, Personal Protective Equipment (including hands-on), Training and Recordkeeping, and Program Evaluation. This course also covers the AFS Hearing Conservation Program (HCP) Order and other AVS HCP Orders as applicable. At a minimum after receiving training participants will be able to describe the purpose of hearing protectors, advantages, disadvantages, and attenuation of the various types. Participants will be able to demonstrate the appropriate fitting, use, and maintenance of various hearing protectors to employees enrolled in the AFS HCP or other AVS HC Programs. The student trainers will be able to teach the curriculum to others in their office after successful completion of this course.
