Version 3, an online, self-study course replaces this version. NOTE: This course replaces version 1, Advanced Communications, with an updated version, FAA25811 NextGen Advanced Communications. The purpose of this course is to provide an overview into the futuristic approach to Air Traffic Services (ATS) Air/Ground (A/G) Data Communications as foreseen by NextGen. The course covers: Currently proposed A/G data implementations by the FAA Data Communication program Implications of the recently invoked Data Link Recording Rule Long Range Communication Systems. Participants will learn about: Air/Ground (A/G) Data Communication technology and its application in the National Airspace System (NAS) Air Traffic System. (ATS). The data link recording capabilities in the aircraft and applicable data link rule. Advisory materials that describe the policy of processing and recording the A/G data. The Performance Based Approach to establishing the operational documents and considerations. Audience: AIR Engineers
