This course provides background information on the designee program and the authoritythat allows the FAA to appoint a designee. It describes the different designee types and the performance expectations of persons working as representatives of the FAA. The course outlines the designees responsibilities, and the functional areas and authorities that may be delegated by the FAA. It also defines the limitations of designees while functioning as an FAA representative. This course is required for DERs and ODA Unit Members as part of their initial training prior to appointment per Order 8100.8 the Designee Management Handbook.
