This course explains the expanded icing environments to be considered for new transport category airplanes certified for flight in icing. It also describes the airframe aspects of the rulemaking and is intended for individuals showing compliance to Part 25 for icing related regulations. Goals: At the end of this course the participant should be able to: Identify the changes made to Part 25 at Amendment 25-140; Define the regulatory changes related to demonstration of safe performance and handling in icing; Identify the airplane systems that are affected by the regulatory changes; Define the regulatory changes related to the propulsion system installation; Describe some new compliance activities required for 'small' transport airplanes to be certified for flight in icing; Describe some new compliance activities required for 'large' transport airplanes to be certified for flight in icing; Describe some new compliance activities required for transport airplane engine installations; Identify some potential issues to consider when certifying 'small' transport airplanes for flight in icing; Identify some potential issues to consider when certifying 'all' transport airplanes for flight in icing; Identify some potential issues to consider when certifying transport airplane turbine engine installations.
