This 88 hour instructor-led training course provides training for Network Enterprise Management Center (NEMC) personnel and provides network fundamentals & hardware concepts utilized for operating and maintaining the National Airspace Data Interchange Network (NADIN) Message Switching Network (MSN) system. Total length of course is 88 hours; broken into 48 hours for theory of operations and 40 hours of hands-on laboratory activities. Lecture Topics include: The first 44 hours of the course provide: Hardware subsystem overview, NADIN network design and connectivity, Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model and physical layer (Layer 1), Data Link (Layer 2) concepts including: hubs, bridges, switches, collision and broadcast domains, Network (Layer 3) concepts including: Internet Protocol (IP), network layer protocol, subnetting tasks, Address Resolution Protocol (ARP), Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) concepts including: User Datagram Protocol (UDP), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Application Layer Protocols including: Common Message Handling Protocol (CMHP) and utilization of Wireshark tool, NADIN Network Devices concepts including: basic routers and switches, configuration, Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) routing, router-on-a-stick, Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP) and HSRP configuration. The next 44 hours of instruction provide: NADIN Network Architecture concepts including: Network Management routers, switches, Combined Services Access Point (CSAP) components and their interconnectivity, Stratus ft6600 Server, Non-FAA Server (ft6210), Legacy Protocol Converter, Keyboard, Video and Mouse (KVM), Secure Console Server, Network Time Server (NTS), Network Management and Authentication Servers, Monitoring Tools, and the Protocol Analyzer (InfiniStream Sniffer).
