Upon successful completion of this course the student will understand policies and procedures; Understand how hazards affect body tissue; Identify typical electrical hazards (e.g. UPS, battery banks, transfer switches) in FAA facilities; Identify and understand the degree of hazard (shock, arc flash and arc blast); Understand how to minimize risk by body position; Understand the proper use and application of voltage testing equipment; Understand the integration of lockout/tagout requirements with electrical safety; Understand how to select, use, inspect and maintain PPE; Understand techniques required to perform a hazard/risk analysis; Understand clearance requirements around equipment; Determine and understand the limited, restricted and prohibited approach boundaries; Determine and understand the flash protection boundary. Student will perform and demonstrate knowledge and skill in regards to voltage checks, simple to complex LOTO procedures, completing and energized work permit, donning and doffing and inpection of PPE, inspect and identify deficiencies with receptacle and extension cords, demonstrate grounded vs. ungrounded, and lastly demonstrate appropriate body positioning during various tasks.
