Training course will include technical aspects of Terminal Instrument Procedures (TERPS) development and Flight Inspection requirements for NAVAIDs and Instrument Flight Procedures (IFP). Joint presentations by Flight Inspection Technical Services/Procedures and Mission Specialist cover 1) the parameters flight inspection must record and observe before certifying IFPs for Terminal and En Route operations, 2) tolerances applied to signal-in-space, 3) TERPS criteria/ human factors objectivity when determining whether a procedure is safe to fly. During the IFP development section the Flight Procedure Specialist will cover 1) the general process of how a procedure gets published, 2) identify basic TERPs regulations, 3) highlight the main objective of TERPs obstacle clearance, 4) magnetic variation impacts on procedures and NAVAIDs, 5) describe current TERPs software Instrument Approach Procedures Automation (IAPA) and Instrument Procedures Development System (IPDS), and 6) demonstrate how an IFP is built/evaluated
