DESCRIPTION

THIS CRS PROVIDES TRAINING FOR SPECS ON THE FOLLOWING COMMS EQUIP: AN/GRT-21/22, AN/GRR-23/24, CM-200 TX & RX, VHF MDR TX & RX, UHF CM-300 TX & RX, ANTENNAS, TRANSMISSION LINES, MULTICOUPLERS, & REMOTE RCE (CS-2330). CRS IS 60 HRS ACAD LECTURE, 84 HRS ACAD LAB, & 16 HRS REQUIRED TO COMPLETE DOP EXAM 89614001 (CD102). IF CERT IS REQUIRED, DOP EXAM TAKEN AFTER SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF EHOT & IS INCLUDED IN TOTAL CRS HRS. SYS KEY PERFORMANCE & CERT PARAMETERS NOT TESTED IN DoP WILL BE INDIVIDUALLY TESTED IN GRADED LABS DURING EHOT PORTION OF THIS CRS. INSTRUCTION INCS USE OF APPLICABLE MAINT HANDBOOKS, MAINT REQUIREMENTS, STANDARDS & TOLERANCES, INTERVALS, USE OF TPR'S, CERT PROCEDURES, EXCEPTIONS & LOG STATEMENTS. LECTURE INCS ALL RADIO EQUIP MENTIONED ABOVE, AS WELL AS FACILITY CERT REQUIREMENTS FOR RCAG, RTR, RCO, BUEC & ECS FACILITIES. CRS ALSO INCLUDES A/G COMMS EQUIP TROUBLESHOOTING AT THE LRU AND SYS LEVEL OF RADIO EQUIPMENT LISTED ABOVE. AN OVERVIEW OF THE TEST EQUIP SPECIFICALLY RELATED TO THE RADIO EQUIP, AS WELL AS THE APPLICATION IS COVERED. FACILITY WIRING IS COVERED, INCLUDING TELCO, FACILITY & EQUIP RACK DEMARCATION, JACK PANELS, AS WELL AS THE RF SIDE INCLUDING THE ANTENNA JUNCTION BOX & FACILITY BULKHEAD. LAB CONSISTS OF APPLICATION OF THE FAA ORDERS & TIs IN ALIGNMENT, STANDARDS & TOLERANCES, PERIODIC & CORRECTIVE MAINT ACTIVITIES OF A/G COMMS EQUIP INCLUDING TPR RECORDING, TROUBLESHOOTING & USE OF COMMS TEST EQUIP. THE EXAMS WILL BE ADMINISTERED USING THE CLEAN TESTING FORMAT, WHICH MEANS THE TECHNICIAN WILL BE PROVIDED WITH & CAN ONLY USE THE FAA HANDBOOKS, TIs, FORMULA SHEETS, TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDES, & SUBMITTED ERRATA SHEETS TO COMPLETE THEIR EXAMS. USE OF NOTES, STUDENT OR LAB GUIDES FOR TESTING IS NOT ALLOWED. THE LEARNER MUST BE PROFICIENT IN BASIC ALGEBRA. ANY CALCULATOR IS ACCEPTABLE FOR THIS COURSE, HOWEVER LEARNER MUST BE PROFICIENT IN ITS USAGE, OTHERWISE, A SCIENTIFIC CALCULATOR IS REQUIRED.

OBJECTIVES

Given references, the student will be able to operate, maintain, troubleshoot and repair Communication Equipment in accordance with the FAA Order and Technical Instruction Books (TIBs).

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

This course provides training for electronic technicians and engineers responsible for operating, maintaining, and certifying/verifying normal operation of Communication Equipment.
