Mark 20/20A Instrument Landing System (ILS) (EHOT) Course 41906

DESCRIPTION

This 42-day course provides training for technicians on the Mark 20/20A ILS. The course is 96 hours academy lecture, 208 hours academy laboratory, with 32 hours required to complete 89819 (ND119). The DoP is taken after successful completion of this course and is included in the course hours. System key performance and certification parameters that are not tested in the DoP will be individually tested in graded labs during the course. Instruction will include the use of applicable maintenance handbooks, maintenance requirements, standards and tolerances, intervals, etc.; use of TPRs; and certification procedures including intervals, exceptions and log statement(s). Lecture subjects include ILS overview, marker beacons, capture effect localizer, far field monitor, capture effect glide slope, remote indication and control equipment (RICE), link control unit (LCU), flight inspection, category requirements for ILS, technical performance records, troubleshooting, FAA orders and TIs. Laboratory subjects include ILS overview, marker beacons, capture effect localizer, far field monitor, capture effect glide slope, remote indication and control equipment (RICE), link control unit (LCU), flight inspection, category requirements for ILS, technical performance records, troubleshooting, periodic maintenance.

OBJECTIVES

Given a Mark 20/20A CAT II/III Instrument Landing System (ILS), student materials, a portable maintenance data terminal (PMDT), and access to a technical instruction book (TIB), the student will:
  • Configure a normal operating ILS IAW specifications listed in the TIB.
  • Perform periodic maintenance (PM) on the Mark 20/20A ILS IAW the TIB.
  • Perform corrective maintenance (CM) on the Mark 20/20A ILS IAW the TIB.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

This course is primarily designed for technicians involved in the operation, maintenance, calibration and fault diagnosis of the Mark 20/20A ILS.
